You might be wondering why you should start a Christian blog if you’re a SAHM. The answer is super easy. The content you create on your site remains yours, and once you create the content, it can be repurposed and read by anyone, anytime.
Years down the road your readers will still be viewing your content! Having a blog is a time-saver, something that a lot of Christian business coaches might not take into consideration. We’re going to cover just how to start your Christian blog as a Christian business coach in this post.
What you need to know about starting a Christian blog as a SAHM
First of all, It’s the complete opposite of creating constant content for an unbeatable social media algorithm. Remember when Facebook went down… like 2 times? Yeah, if that were to happen permanently, you’d lose ALL of your content AND your audience.
The fresh daily content you provide social media with? It’s not yours. If you want to remain the creator of the content, you should be utilizing your website and providing updated, consistent, valuable content for your readers there.
Even if you’re not a SAHM, Starting a blog is still highly beneficial for you and your online business! Having a blog is like free education for your readers, and you have ENDLESS micro-content that you can create.
As a SAHM, here are some tips on how to start a Christian blog
If you are considering starting a Christian blog, here are my top 5 things to consider before you start creating content.
1. Content Plan
What is your main core topic (your expertise) and subtopics that relate to the core topic? These are kind of like umbrella topics that you periodically touch on.
2. Content Schedule
When/Where/How often are you planning on showing up? What does your schedule allow for you to be able to show up consistently without overwhelming yourself and taking time away from your family?
Showing up consistently from the beginning is extremely important because this is a major KLT (Know, Like Trust) factor. Your ideal client needs to know that you are someone that is dependable, knowledgeable and trustworthy.
Part of showing up consistently is deciding WHERE you are going to show up consistently. So if you’re going to be creating content, make sure you have a consistent schedule. If you have a group, show up there consistently. If you have an email list, deliver an email consistently.
3. Marketing plan
How/Where are you planning on delivering your content? Ideally, you want to promote your content as soon as you have new content to share. You need to figure out where you want to market your content, and where the content is going to perform the best.
You can’t show up everywhere. That’s not realistic. If you try to be in too many places, the amount of value in your content might suffer. So keep your marketing schedule very minimal.
Instead of creating marketing content for the content you are promoting, repurpose it. If your content is in list form, create an infographic highlighting those parts. Take a piece of that content and turn it into a quote. Take a paragraph and turn it into a post somewhere with your opt-in CTA at the end. Repurposing will save you so much time.
4. Create a value-packed resource for your reader
Aside from the mind-blowing content you are giving, create an opt-in (freebie) and add it to content that relates to the freebie. This is called monetization, and it’s also strategic and you don’t want to just throw your freebie into a piece of content that doesn’t belong there.
Bring value! You might have heard the phrase “give them the ‘what’, but not the ‘how’”. You ALWAYS want to give a portion of the ‘HOW’ whenever you can. If you never explain your process for HOW you walk your readers through their problem into their solution with any of your content, how are you going to convince them that you can help them solve their problem? This is part of building trust, and it’s also part of showing your knowledge and skills that you know this thing from top to bottom and it’s your jam.
Don’t ever be afraid to give too much away. Obviously, you don’t want to spend too much time creating an opt-in, but don’t get hung up on providing “too much” information. Again, keep it simple, and keep it small.
You don’t need several pieces of freebies. That is what blog content is for. It’s like free coaching. A couple freebies are going more in depth and giving them a bigger win than your content would.

5. Utilize SEO (Search Engine Optimization) from the beginning
SEO will completely work for you even if your website and content are brand new. But, using SEO takes TIME. If done correctly, and you are using keyphrases and keywords that are easy to rank for, your content will get noticed.
Use keywords and phrases in H1 headings, H2 headings, and all throughout your content so that when bots crawl your content, they know exactly what kind of content you’re talking about.
Avoid using an SEO plugin as the “be-all” in getting traction for your content. An SEO plugin is only a guide to let you know the kind of content you have written, whether it’s readable, and if you’ve used your keywords enough in the content.
As a SAHM, you can use a Christian blog to share your expertise and knowledge
As a SAHM, leveraging the use of a Christian blog for the long term will be highly beneficial for your business. Once the content is created, it can be repurposed, turned into micro-content, and viewed over and over by new and returning readers.
The marketing hustle ends with social and begins with evergreen. I’d love to know what takeaways you got from this post. As a SAHM, how do you feel knowing that this would be a less time-consuming strategy to grow your online business? Share them with me below!
